Today I was doing a grocery run at our local Wal-Mart. I remembered that I need a wreath hanger for the wreath I bought in Lancaster this weekend, so I ventured back to the holiday section.
On the way, I ran into this:
Yes, it is a life-sized pony. And better yet, it blinks, neighs, and swishes its tail just like a real pony.
It was set up right in the middle of the store. Parents cannot avoid walking by it if they need anything Christmas related.
There was a small crowd of toddlers gaping at the pony, who was politely neighing at his admirers. The parents looked a little less enthusiastic. The Wal-Mart managers, shrewed as they are, had posted a sign next to the equine which read "Do not get on the pony."
So what's the price to bring this guy home and ride him? $249.99, plus tax.
I'm so glad we have a boy.

Yeah, so we moved this past weekend, and Asim, instead of playing in his room with all of his toys (we finally had a chance to give him a room all his own) decides to stroll around and pull packing paper out of boxes and slide chairs around the floor.
He was also very amused when we were getting packed by sitting in empty boxes.
I think instead of buying toys for your kid for Christmas, he should just get all the empty boxen.
Isn't it ridiculous!? Megan happens to LOVE horses but so far she hasn't noticed this one. I can't believe how awful that is for the parents and child - only tempts the child who will in return pester their parent(s). And seriously, how many parents really have that kind of dough just laying around? It is SO boring, doesn't encourage any critical thinking skills, creative play, just a horse that looks cute and may do a few more fancy things than a regular stuffed animal. Anyway, ITA with your comments. I'd be unhappy if I saw that 'staged' at my local store like that for Megan to see!
