First Attempt at a Video

I took this short clip with my new digital camera. I think Adam might be crawling by the end of February. What do you think?

Playing Catch-up

Sorry that it's been a while since I've done any updating. I've been taking pictures regularly, but I haven't found the time to upload them and blog. Adam continues to thrive. Last night, he returned to his habit of sleeping through the night. We're so glad! He learned to sleep through the night very early on, but somehow forgot around Christmas time. Must have been all of that extra love from his grandparents and aunts!

Adam loves to hang out in his exersaucer...for about 15 minutes at a time. Then it just "expires." But he's really good at playing with all of the toys while he's in there!

My mom, Gepi, and grandma and grandpa Eberly came down this past Saturday. They brought lunch from my favorite Lancaster County store, S. Clyde Weaver. Yum!

We're not sure who is having more fun here: Adam, or Grandpa Eberly?

We also celebrated my birthday a few days early. My mom brought this red velvet cake from Oregon Dairy.

Adam is very interested in family devotions.

During our family mealtimes, we put Adam in his highchair and give him a spoon and sippy cup. He's not sure what to do with them yet. We figure that by the time he needs to know how to use them, he will.

Snow Day

Finally, an opportunity to use the "snow setting" on my new camera.

A shot of Adam watching the snow. Because, I recognize that at least 90% of my blog readers are only here to see pictures of him.

Baby's First Bowling!

On Saturday night, we went bowling with our good friends, the Reedy's. We had a coupon for a free game for up to 10 people at any local AMF bowling alley. We chose the most convenient location and met there. To our suprise, it was a duck pins alley. The pins were about 6 inches high, with porportionately small bowling balls. You can see the "Adam sized" ball in Karl's hand above. We looked around and saw several children's groups, but plenty of adults joining in the fun. Apparantly it's not just a kiddie version of the sport, just a different variation. They did have bumpers in most lanes, so we opted to keep ours, given the novelty of the experience. Still, the only member of our party to break 100 was Ethan Reedy. Good thing we weren't competing!

We invited Adam to play but he preferred to sit in his carrier and watch.

Josiah and Wendi were on Mommy's team

After the game, we dined at Ledo's Restaurant, a local pizzeria. Adam, tired out from listening to bowling pins, took a nap under the table while we ate.

Happy 4 months, Adam!

Friday marked 4 months for little Adam. Sadly, instead of party, he had a doctor's appointment with 5 vaccinations! Four of them were shots and only one was oral. Poor baby! He recovered very quickly. Daddy picked him up when the nurse was done and that was enough to comfort him. I was so glad.

Again, the doctor was pleased with everything he saw. Adam weighs 13lbz, 7 oz and stands 25.5 inches tall. That's a 1 lb, 12 oz gain and 1.5 inch growth over a little less than 2 months.

The doctor said we could introduce foods before Adam's 6 month appointment, if we think he needs it or shows exceptional interest. So far the only interest we see is in things that mommy is drinking. If I have a sip of something he will reach for it. I think it's mainly out of curiosity, not thirst. But I did whip out one of the sippy cups we got as a gift and filled it with 2 oz of water. Now I put him in his high chair when Karl and I are eating dinner and give him the cup. He likes to put the tip in his mouth and to hold the handles. I'm not sure if he has gotten anything out of it yet. The water level has not really diminished. But now he is one step closer to little-boyhood. It's bittersweet.

Adam reached another milestone this morning: he rolled over from his back to his tummy! He has been able to do the reverse for some time. Now he is truly not safe on any elevated surface. I think I might purchase a baby gate for the top of our stairs. I often put him down outside our bathroom to play with some toys while I dress in the morning. Without a baby gate, I'll have to change my habits.

Well I guess you all give up

I probably wouldn't have known what it was if it wasn't for Karl.

The picture is a bumper sticker posted on a Philadelphia streetlight at 17th and Addison Streets. It says "Mondale Ferraro." Reagan election memorabilia!

What is this?

Any guesses? Hint: Karl took this picture. It's one of his favorite pieces of nostalgia in Philadelphia. It took a bit of retouching before I could clearly read what it says.

I'm not sure if I'm excited or scared

Daddy was proud of the way Adam was holding himself steady while holding Daddy's hands, so he decided to see if Adam could hold himself up on the couch.

The whole thing lasted less than thirty seconds. It was long enough for me to grab the camera and get some shots. It ended when Karl caught him just before falling into a little heap. Adam seems to be proud of himself.

Happy 2008!
