Adam's Big Boy Room

In early August, we decided it was time to move Adam out of the nursery and into a "big boy room". The nursery was too small for him to spend time playing in and we had another, bigger room in mind for him. Our intention has always been to keep the nursery a nursery until we are "done" (no we don't know when that will be yet). After the work was done, we were very glad that we made the switch when we did because we found out that same week that we are expecting baby number two, due in May.

I painted the walls and ceiling, stripped of the old carpet and tackboards, and installed new blinds (which were generously left new in the box by the previous homewnder). Karl helped me cut, stain, and install quarterround to restore the original baseboard molding. Here are the results:

The bed looks lumpy because I estimate that there are about 1,000 of Adam's stuffed animals under the comforter, all of which he insists must come to bed with him each night.

Coordination organization shelves from Target, a birthday gift from Grandma and Pop Russo.

The beloved Thomas the Train set, which is almost always out and in use. I don't mind that it doesn't get cleaned up very often because it brings Adam such joy. I love watching him pretend with his trains. And for those grandparent-type folks, yes that is a radiator, but it is cool to the touch and kid-safe. This room is the farthest in the house from the HVAC unit, so it does help take the chill off.

The penguins are a souvenier from Daddy's childhood. I was glad to finally have a place to hang them. The pooh cross stitch is from MomMom Gebhard, and hung in the nursery until now. Adam still loves his pooh!

Why on why do little boys insist on sleeping with ALL their "sleep friends?"

My kid is the same way! And he's 9.

COngrats on all that's going on with you! What a great mom you are!

(We have another on the way too, via adoption! More to come.)

Love,
Nancy
